Last entry of the Satanic route. Was supposed to be Ponferrada<\/a> to Lugo<\/a>, but I wanted to get home, so I decided to go all the way.
\nI left Ponferrada at around 1000, weather was good and the road was mostly flat. Good times were ahead, but first lets enjoy the warm up because Pedrafita was ahead, but I had almost 40 kms before facing it.

\nAfter Cacabelos, you pass through Trabadelo and Vega de Valcarce is the last town before going up through Pedrafita. I made a short stop in Vega de Valcarce adn asked whether to take the old road to Compostela or the N-IV and then turn left to Padornelo. Taking the N-IV adds up 5 kms to the trip, so I decided to take the old road.

\nWrong big, huge fucked decesion. Should have taken the N-IV. The old road its like 3 kms uphill that never goes below 10%. That with 5kgs. in a back pack at 1400 in a sunny evening is a huge mistake.

\nSo those 3 kms I decided to unmount and made on foot. Slower, but I really needed to save some my energies if I wanted to arrive to Compostela alive. Theres a small town called La Laguna, right before Os Ancares where I stopped to drink some water and grab a bite. After that theres still like another km before finally making it to Galiza through O Cebreiro. The views are really worth it.

\nAt around this time I was a little tired and thought the worst had already passed. Nope, the fun just got started. Flat plains are nowhere to be seen in GZ and we start going up and down now.

Bike and Alto do Poio<\/p><\/div>
\nAfter Alto do Poio is a really long descent, around 20 kms I would say through big, wide, good roads with almost no traffic. Reaching 70kms was fairly easy here. I believe it was in Triacastela where I saw the bike of the italian I had met yesterday, so I stopped to say hi and tell him I was heading to Compostela directly. He asked if we can go together and I said: “sure, no problem”. So we headed to Compostela going up and down, passing through Sarria<\/a> and stopping in Paradela<\/a> for a quick bite. We crossed a bridge in PortoMarín<\/a> and then had to climb around 400 mts. Toughest climb I can remember from the whole route. Had to cycle against the wind and I was already feeling a little tired. As for my italian colleague we was feeling all right.

\nAfterwards we went through roads without traffic until we took the n-547 which goes from Compostela to Lugo. Another stop for a bite in Arzúa and finally making to Compostela.

\nI wasn’t planning on going to Obradoiro, but since I was going with my italian colleague we went and took the typical picture there.

\nBefore going home I stopped at Bar Coruña to grab a squid sandwich and when home a well deserved bath.<\/p>\n
